OUR PROJECT

Our primary objective is to provide the children with an environment in which they have the possibility to explore and experience by themselves and in their own time. In this way, children take the time to grow and flourish in a place that is safe both on a physical and an emotional level.

Our MAM is also where the children “discover” the group. Being in a group of children allows them to not only become conscious of themselves as well of the others, but they also learn to live together whilst respecting each individual.

Our team is dedicated to protecting both the child’s health as well as the environment by choosing carefully the materials, hygiene and cleaning products we use. Children take part in nature awareness activities (vegetable patch, compost, nature observations…)

Our educational and pedagogical program is based on the works of Dr. Maria Montessori (1870 – 1952). Additionally, the children spend their time at the MAM in a bilingual atmosphere, one of the assistance maternelle’s being a native English speaker.

THE MONTESSORI PEDAGOGY

Our educational and pedagogical project is based on the work of Dr Maria Montessori (1870 - 1952).

Montessori pedagogy is above all a philosophy, a way of considering the child as an actor in his own construction. The aim of education "as an aid to life" is to enable children to express and develop their potential, through a suitable environment and respect for their personality.

The child has a natural faculty to absorb everything around him. Thus, his learning takes place during various sensory and motor experiences that he freely chooses and repeats. He also enriches his language when interacting with adults and other children and can acquire other languages with great ease. Gradually, he gains concentration and builds in himself a taste for effort, a logical mind, autonomy and self-confidence.

As a result of closely observing the child, the adult supports him in his learning and his discovery of the world. The adult adjusts their interventions to respond appropriately to the child’s needs by providing useful and justified help, if necessary.

LES ASSISTANTES MATERNELLES

We are three Early Childhood professionals trained in Montessori pedagogy by the AMI (Association Montessori Internationale).

Our meeting at a Montessori school in Bordeaux, our exchanges and our common values have, over time, led us to the creation of this project. Today, we wish to share our experiences and our complementary qualities to support children in their discoveries, in a warm and personalized environment. We are also committed to providing a bilingual, French-English environment, because in the first years of life, language learning takes place naturally.

Raised in a Montessori spirit myself, it was very naturally that after some years abroad working in cultural diplomacy I joined a Montessori school; four years as an English speaking assistant, then three years as an English speaking educator in a 3-6 classroom. Transitioning to the 0-3 age group has been such a delight!
I enjoy gardening with the children: the process of preparing the soil, sowing seeds and patiently watching them grow, flower arranging, then composting... and starting all over again!

I discovered the world of Early Childhood whilst living in New Caledonia. First through a children's literature association, with the production of a book of nursery rhymes and lullabies. I then worked in a nursery for 4 years. Back in France, I looked after my son until he entered primary school. I then joined a Montessori school with children aged 2 to 6 years old.

My great passion is still children's literature and songs for children. But I also like to garden, to draw and…. make crochet doilies!

I am from England. I am the mother of two little girls ages 5 and 7. In London I worked with children as a nanny and as a tutor, prior to, and alongside, my career in theater and film production.

I arrived in Bordeaux 7 years ago where I worked in a Montessori school with children aged 2 to 6 before joining Le Nido Montessori. I spent many years travelling and love to share my experiences, to cook, to sing and create!
